Giovanni Bottazzo

Hello,

Our names are Annalyse and Gia Bottazzo and we are cousins with Giovanni Bottazzo. Giovanni was diagnosed at 3 months with Usher Syndrome Type 2C. Usher syndrome is the leading genetic cause of combined deafness and blindness.

Giovanni has a smile that can brighten any room, and being around him reveals just how inquisitive and intelligent he is. His love for people shines through, and he’s always on the move, full of energy. If it weren’t for his hearing aids, you’d hardly guess that he faces the challenges of Usher Syndrome—a silent but profound disease.

2 young girls with long brown hair and dresses on are sitting holding a young baby boay wearing a sweater and jeans.
a little boy is laying on his stomach with his arms up in the air looking to the side showing his hearing aid on one ear. There is a small pumpkin in front of him.

Recently, Boston Children’s Hospital approved the Pipeline for Usher Syndrome Research (PUSH), the largest collaborative research project under one academic institution to address multiple forms of Usher syndrome to find optimal therapies for treatments and a cure. Giovanni’s type, 2C, will be part of this study. #Gio4Usher2C

PUSH means the world to us because we hope so much for Giovanni and others with Usher Syndrome to have treatments—and even a cure someday. We want Giovanni to grow up without the struggles of both deafness and blindness.

PUSH can only happen with the generosity and support of people like you, so we ask you to consider a donation to this cause. It would mean so much to us and to everyone with Usher Syndrome.

Sincerely,  Annalyse and Gia Bottazzo (13 years old)
