Grand Rapids Golf For a Cure Fundraiser
On June 7th, Nicole and Cody Schut hosted their annual Grand Rapids Golf Outing in honor of their daughter Braelyn Schut, who lives with Usher syndrome Type 2A. The event was a tremendous success, raising over $20,000 which was donated to the Usher Syndrome Society to go towards USH2A research.
A note from Nicole and cody schut
The GR Open Golf for a Cure Outing was a heartfelt and inspiring day, uniting family, friends, and community members in support of a meaningful cause. The GR Open Golf Outing has been an annual tradition for 14 years, but this year the outing transitioned its cause to support Usher Syndrome, making it the inaugural ‘Golf For a Cure’ event. Held under perfect skies with an incredible turnout, the event raised over $20,000 for the Usher Syndrome Society, funding research, awareness, and support for those affected by this rare genetic condition.
At the center of the day was Braelyn Schut, who lives with Usher Syndrome Type 2A. Surrounded by a loving network of supporters, her strength and spirit reminded us all why this cause matters. The event was more than just a round of golf—it was a powerful show of community, compassion, and commitment to making a difference for those who need it most.
We are deeply grateful to all who participated, donated, sponsored, and volunteered. Your generosity will directly impact the lives of those living with Usher Syndrome and help drive forward the mission of finding treatments—and ultimately a cure.
Thank you for standing with us. Together, we are changing the future of Usher Syndrome. We look forward to many more years ahead of the GR Open Golf For a Cure Outing and to see the support we’ll continue to garner for such an incredible organization.
