WHAT CAUSES USHER SYNDROME?

Usher syndrome is inherited, which means that it is passed from parents to a child through genes. It is a recessive gene, which means the condition only occurs when the child inherits two copies of the gene, one from each parent.

An graphic that shows two parent icons and 4 babies, showing that 2 out of 4 of the babies are carriers, 1 of the 4 babies has usher syndrome, and 1 of the 4 babies does not have the USH gene.
