Michael Mullarkey
A MESSAGE FROM MICHAEL’S PARENTS
Michael Mullarkey is a bright, spirited 2-year-old boy from Fort Worth, Texas. He radiates joy and fills every moment with laughter and energy. Whether he’s zooming around on his scooter or exploring the great outdoors with his four older siblings, Michael’s love for life is contagious.
Michael was born with Usher Syndrome Type 1B, a rare genetic condition that has made him deaf and will gradually rob him of his vision, beginning in adolescence. While Michael currently navigates the world with the help of cochlear implants, his future is a race against time. The progressive nature of Usher Syndrome means that without advancements in treatment, Michael’s vibrant world will become shrouded in darkness.
But there is hope.
The Usher Syndrome Society is dedicated to raising awareness and funding research to find treatments and, ultimately, a cure for this devastating condition. Every dollar raised brings us closer to preserving Michael’s vision and giving him the opportunity to continue exploring the world with the same boundless enthusiasm he shows today.
Michael’s story is one of resilience and love. His siblings are his biggest cheerleaders, and his family is committed to advocating for him and all children affected by Usher Syndrome. Together, we can make a difference in Michael’s life and the lives of countless others facing similar challenges.
